The Village Voice gave the following report in the Rye Observer on April 30th 2004.
Beckley Players brought the house down once again with their Old Time Music Hall at the Village Centre on Saturday Night.
Martin Burke and Paul Lewis, accompanied by Liam Burke, opened the proceedings and warmed up the orchestra with their rendition of the Blue Danube closely followed by the colourful Can Can girls, Doreen,Siobhan, Rosie, Alice and Trish.
Patrons & Friends joined in a good old sing song as well as being entertained with solos from Holly Wilson, Hester Bavistock, Alison Tooth and Johnathon Clarkson.
Martin & Paul, in typical form led the singing with their Flanagan and Allen act and as representatives of the Home Guard.
Nita Catt made a fine return to the stage leading a rendition of My Old Man while Hannah Thompson led the wedding songs dressed suitably as a bride.
Johnathon, in danger of being typecast as an Alpine Artiste, sang The Lonely Goatherd accompanied by Alice and Rosie, Megan Thompson and Amy Ward.
Similary typecast Nigel Pearson, who seems to have a habit of dressing in women's clothing, performed Daddy won't you buy me a Bow Wow.
Reuben Baverstock recited the story of Albert and the Lion complete with northern accent and Louise performed her version of Burlington Bertie with style - not forgetting her fine performance in a Trio of Swells together with Alison and Doreen.
The envening was Chaired with great professionalism by Roger Thompson, as Master of Ceremonies. A star was born indeed!
Musical accompaniment was once again provided by Sarah Baverstock ably assisted by Bernard. Thanks also go to Brian Tooth for all his behind the scenes work.
